Wardie's Way
Raising funds for research into childrens' cancers
FEATURES / UPDATES
Having originally set-out to raise €50,000 to support research into children's cancers, during the pandemic Wardie's Way went a step further, and smashed through the €100,000 barrier, with a latest total of
€138,112
Passing the €100,00 barrier was announced in the concert
held in Tervuren, Belgium, on Friday 15th October 2021.
For those that couldn't be there, a recording of the concert is available below:
"Wardie's Way" has just made it's latest donation of €15,000 to the wonderful people working in the Gent Children's Hospital, who continue to care for, and research solutions for, children's cancers.
Thanks to those that recently contrinuted throug the Six Nations sweepstake, and the families that contributed from thre First Holy Communion classes at St Anthony's church, Kraainem.
I was honoured to be invited to attend a special moment for a very special young lady in Gent last night: Charlotte Derpoorter. Back in 2015, Wardie's Way helped to fund the vital role that Charlotte took on, to coordinate the results of international testing into children's cancers.
Fast-forward to today, and she successfully publicly defended her PhD doctoral dissertation, entitled Childhood cancer predisposition: exploring missing heritability using DNA sequencing approaches, and sponsored by profs Tim Lammens and Genevieve Laureys, with whom WW has been working since the start.
I am so pleased for Charlotte, and it's great to know that the brilliant brains that are collectively working to solve children's cancers now have a newly-qualified starlet amongst them
And those wonderful people will shortly be receiving the next donation of €12,500 from Wardie's Way, so thanks to EVERYONE out there for your continued support of Wardie's Way
